Sony Recording Console (1989 / MXP-3036) Selling a 1989 US-made Sony MXP-3036PK Recording console with the 24-channel meter bridge, monitor, keyboard, controller, automation setup, spare main power supply, extender, spare parts, cables, connectors, upgrades and more. The console has 26 channel strips but a total of 24 Preamps as the 2 x John Hardy MPC-3000 preamps have sold. There is enough space to expand the unit to 36 channels and the modular design can accommodate other brands such as API, Avalon etc… Includes original documentation (console, technical training, mixing, automation), additional handwritten notes & the main power supply schematic. The console has been tested for basic functionality and the previous owner mentioned the unit had a buzz but did indeed function. The previous owner purchased from a tech that maintained the unit personally. The buyer is solely responsible for pickup with an appropriate crew & transportation. The console itself weighs appx 1000lbs (Not including power supplies) and measures appx H 43” x D 45” x L 94” (not including any of the extras pictured). The legs will be left attached to the unit. The unit is located in Lantzville, is at ground level and only needs to be shuffled out of a street-facing garage directly into the buyer’s provided transportation. I haven’t personally used the unit beyond the basic testing notes below. I’m not an expert on it and unfortunately don’t have the space for it after a recent move. I hope this console can find a good home and be used to its full potential. There is an active community on groups.io dedicated to this specific series of consoles for those interested. Serious inquiries only pls. Cross-posted. ****** Basic Testing Details ******* I connected with someone in the area that also owned a Sony MXP-3036 and did a full restoration. We spent a day together checking the unit out (Special thanks to Jon @ Edgetone Studios!!). He brought his known good power supply to first test the console. Once confirming the board had life, we then plugged in my main power supply. It powered the console as well without issue. The second main PSU spare did not work. The VU meters work as expected and plenty of bulbs need to be replaced but everything powers up. Wiring
