$600 · SILVER REED SK860 KNITTING MACHINE PLUS RIBBER

Hard to find Silver Reed SK 860 mid-gauge steel bed knitting machine together with a Silver Reed SR 860 ribber. It has 150 needles and has a 6.5 mm needle pitch and is designed to work with all yarns typically used by hand knitters, particularly DK. It is especially good to use if you are knitting with alpaca. It belongs to the Silver Reed modular system electronic knitters. There is no punch card mechanism on this machine. Patterns are made with the use of the EC1 Pattern Controller. With the EC1 you can insert pre-printed design cards to make the patterns 60 sts wide and 150 rows long or if you have the PE1, 150 sts wide and 1300 rows long. The EC1 can be used with the SK840 and the SK890. The EC1 is available separately for $250. In very good condition except for yellowing of plastic from UV lighting but this doesn't affect the use. The name Silver Reed on the carriage has rubbed off a bit but that doesn't affect its use either. It has been cleaned, every needle removed and the bed vacuumed, all needles checked. It has been oiled and has a new sponge bar. Working great. Photos showing knitting in fair isle has been done with the EC1 attached. Local pick up only.
