Shine Gala – A Night of Fashion supporting BC Children’s Hospital – April 6

This is no ordinary fashion show. Join us for the social event of the season!

Picture this: a red carpet with paparazzi, cocktail hour with appetizers and close-up magic by Jason Verners, a spectacular 3-course dinner with wine service, a high-end fashion show plus a jaw-dropping array of live and silent auctions items, this event is set to be the highlight of 2024. This magical night takes place on Saturday, April 6th at The Empress in their Crystal Ballroom and all funds raised will go directly to supporting local kids at BC Children’s Hospital. Relove Market – March 16-17

The ReLove Market is an empowering fashion community dedicated to the pursuit of personal expression balanced with environmental sustainability. We bring local curators and fashion enthusiasts together in a welcoming, inspiring and creative in-person forum to share ideas and textiles! Featuring local artisans, resellers of secondhand & vintage clothing, makers of sustainable fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle.

Join us for the finest in secondhand & vintage clothing March 16 & 17 from 11am-5pm at the Rifflandia Showroom located at #2500-2541 Rock Bay Ave. We will have Sliceoginger spinning, Routine Coffee & Supply keeping you caffeinated and Hot Dog Hustlin’ filling your tummies all weekend long.  Tattudies will also be joining us for flash tattoos sale.  And don’t forget your reusable shopper for all your fabulous finds. Greater Victoria Flower Count – March 6-13

The Greater Victoria Flower Count, organized by Destination Greater Victoria and Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, is a week-long event from March 6th – 13th where the citizens of Greater Victoria count all the blossoms they can see!

The results are then reported to the Flower Count Headquarters.  As the numbers come in, announcements are sent to local media to inform everyone of the abundance of floral growth springing up in our region’s beautiful backyard. 

A record was reached in 2022 when we tallied just over 27 billion blooms. We need your help to make 2024 a new record! 

Head over to www.flowercount.com to submit your flower numbers between March 6th –  March 13th, and contribute to your blooming community count!

TC10K – April 28

Oh Snap! The TC10K is making a ’90s comeback! Join us on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, as we celebrate like it’s 1990 to honor the 35th annual of this legendary event. Lace up those kicks, dust off your brightest neon gear, and get ready to time-warp to an era when mixtapes set the mood and pop culture icons ruled the world. It’s going to be all that and a bag of chips. Whether you’re strolling, jogging, or sprinting, you’re in for a blast from the past. Passion & Performance’s Saturday Night Fever – March 9

Transport back to the greatest decade of all time with Passion & Performance. On March 9th, get groovy, do us a solid and boogie on down at the dance show & theme party of the year! Victoria Beer Week – March 1-9

Victoria Beer Week is celebrating 10 years of unique craft beer experiences. Victoria Beer Week launched back in 2014,  it has since become a successful annual festival creating craft beer ambassadors out of regular beer consumers. VBW is a week-long festival showcasing BC craft breweries in unique event settings across Greater Victoria. This year the event will run from March 1st – 9th and have events hosted at some of your favourite Victoria breweries. Crafted Farmhouse Market – March 15-16

Crafted Farmhouse Market is a Local handmade showcase of small businesses, featuring carefully selected variety of collective goods, from local makers showcasing the best of the best.
On March 15 & 16 at the Mary Winspear Centre, enjoy a unique market experience! Local live music, different flavors of food trucks, local handcrafted curators, sweet treats, and a fun, friendly vibe.

Ballet Victoria presents Dracula – March 15-17

Ballet Victoria presents Dracula March 15-17 at The Royal Theatre. Still seducing audiences today, the original vampire’s legend of immortal love lives on in this extraordinary ballet. CCAA Men’s National Volleyball Championship – March 7-10

Camosun College and the Chargers Athletics Department are excited and ready to host the 2024 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s National Volleyball Championship, March 7-10, 2024 at the Pacific Institute for Sport Education (PISE). Champagne and Cake Show – April 7

 

Champagne + Cake Show is happy to return for the second year on Sunday, April 7th at The Wardroom – Esquimalt  in support of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. We are proud to show off the event, wedding, and celebration industry professionals of Vancouver Island. Sip champagne and taste cake while you visit photographers, designers, decor pros, cake and dessert specialists, caterers, and florists. Enjoy the cash bar and a spectacular ocean view this year at The Wardroom in Esquimalt. The highlight is our ‘Fashion Floor’ with live hair and makeup makeovers, a fashion parade all afternoon supported by Victoria’s bridal shops, and a sample sale by Botanica Bridal. World Cups Youth Soccer Festival – March 29-30

The World Cups at Lochside Park is a U5-18 small sided youth soccer festival taking place over Easter Friday & Saturday. Registration & info at: www.worldcups.ca

FESTIVAL FORMAT

  • U5  teams play 3-a-side games (No Goalkeepers) 
  • U6/7 all teams play 4-a-side games (No Goalkeepers) 
  • U8/9 all teams play 5-aside games
  • U10-18 all teams play 6-a-side games
  • Each team plays 4 games
  • Field size varies by age division
  • Coaches cooperate to ensure both teams and all players find success.  If there is a  lack of competitive balance between the teams, the coaches have the autonomy to change the game format slightly to ensure there is better balance and success to all.                 

The FESTIVAL’S PRIMARY PURPOSE – TO HAVE FUN & MAKE NEW FRIENDS!!  

Victoria MS Walk- May 26

Join us on Sunday, May 26th, at the 2024 Victoria MS Walk, at Cadboro-Gyro Park, as our community walks together to show that no person living with multiple sclerosis is alone.

Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the world, with an estimated 90,000 Canadians living with the disease. On average, 12 Canadians are diagnosed with MS every day.

Spring Clothing Swap presented by Used.ca and The Bay Centre – April 20

We are excited to announce our next FREE Clothing Swap! Just as the season is changing, this is your chance to refresh your closet with up to 10 new to you spring/summer items.

Our Spring Clothing Swap will be hosted on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Bay Centre. Must be 19+.

Important dates to keep in mind:

  • Clothing Swap Registration: Friday, April 5
    Registration will open at 10 am PT at thebaycentre.ca
  • Clothing In-take: April 5 to April 14
  • Clothing Swap: Saturday, April 20

How it works:

  • Secure your 30-minute Clothing Swap appointment at thebaycentre.ca. Group appointments up to 10 people welcome.
  • Drop off your clothing donations between April 5 to April 14, 2024 at Guest Services located on the lower level of the Bay Centre.Do Bring: 10 to 30 pre-owned or “new with tag” items of women’s/men’s spring/summer clothing you no longer wear in good clean condition. Please note, jewellery donations will not be included in your item count.Don’t bring: More than 30 items, stained, items with pet hair, ripped or damaged clothing. For hygiene reasons, earrings, hosiery, undergarments, swimwear, sleepwear and socks will not be accepted. Shoes will not be accepted.
  • Find up to 10 new to you items during your pre-booked appointment at the Clothing Swap on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
  • Snap a pic of your clothing finds and tag @thebaycentre & @used.ca in your pics.
  • Any unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

Broadmead Care’s Shred-a-Thon – April 27

On Saturday, April 27th, pack up your paper documents and watch them get shredded at Broadmead Care’s Shred-a-Thon!

With the support of Best Shredding, a professional mobile shredding truck will be on site to safely shred your confidential or unwanted paper documents. It’s the perfect task to add to your spring cleaning to-do list!

You can even pre-pay for your shredding making your trip quicker than ever! The event will take place in the lower parking lot of Veterans Memorial Lodge 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria BC from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (or until the shredding truck is FULL). Suggested contribution $10 / box.

This event is an important fundraiser for Nigel House, a Broadmead Care Home. Funds raised will help the residents of Nigel House access companion services in our community. Learn more or donate to Nigel House online here.
