The Garrard 'Type A' is an autochanger which will play a stack of up to 10 records sequentially. It has four speeds to play all types of records: 16 rpm, 33 rpm, 45 rpm and 78rpm. This is one of the best autochangers ever designed, especially known for its delicate handling of fragile 78 rpm discs. Upgraded beyond factory specs! Fully mechanically and electrically restored! It has been meticulously restored and upgraded to perform better than when it left the factory in the early 1960s! Some of these upgrades are not commercially available, so this is a very rare opportunity to own an extraordinary example of the 'Type A' which will outperform and outlast all others! 1. Heavy brass trip assembly (38 g) has been replaced with aluminum and delrin (15 g) allowing the mechanism to reliably activate even at VTF <1 gram. 2. New motor grommets, arm sleeves, suspension foam and platter isolation. 3. Includes three spindles with new mounting clips behind wooden base. 4. Furnished with gold-plated RCA connectors. 5. Freshly re-painted wooden base. 6. Upgraded idler wheel is soft, pliable, and true. 7. Steel platter bearings have been replaced with ceramic silicon nitride. 8. Replaced fatigued springs 9. Mechanism cleaned and lubricated 10. Delicate platter mat is flat, flexible, and clean. It will be ready for decades more of play time with little-to-no maintenance. It would be difficult if not impossible to find a better 'Type A' anywhere in the world at any price in 2024. I am a long-time collector of vintage Hi-Fi iand have owned many autochangers - the 'Type A' is my favourite, and I keep a nearly identical one in my own Hi-Fi set for daily use.
