In Home Care Aide We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Aide to join our team, working with a 40-year-old male client diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. This role is vital in providing the support and care needed to enhance our client's quality of life in his home environment. Position Details: - Location: Nanaimo, British Columbia - Schedule: Day Shifts (9am-5pm) and Night Shifts (5pm-12am) available. - Compensation: $25 per hour Key Responsibilities: - Personal Hygiene: Assist with grooming, bathing, and other personal hygiene tasks to ensure comfort and cleanliness. - Administering Medication and Food: Responsible for administering prescribed medications and feeding through a feeding tube, following all safety protocols and instructions. - Transfer Assistance: Safely assist in transferring the client between the bed and chair. Applicants must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds to perform these transfers effectively. - Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in fluent English with both the client and his healthcare team to ensure that care is coordinated and effective. **Requirements:** - Experience in a care aide role or similar position, preferably with clients with mobility challenges or muscular dystrophy (preferred but not essential). - A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care. - Physical ability to perform the duties listed, including the strength to assist with transfers. - Fluency in English is mandatory for effective communication. - Certification in First Aid and CPR is an asset. - Must be willing to undergo a background check. - Must have a valid driver's license This position offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the life of an individual living with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy.
