The Pioneer SX-650 - a true classic of the late 1970s. First introduced in 1976. Manufactured in Japan. The SX-650 is considered by many to be the sweet spot in Pioneer's range from this era. While not the most powerful of its product line it does produce a very respectable 35 watts of undistorted power and has a combination of features, functionality, and ergonomics which have made a perennial favourite. Retail price in the 1977 catalogue was $325.00. That is equivalent to over $1,500 in today's dollars! This receiver has been FULLY RESTORED AND UPGRADED with all new electrolytic capacitors. Upgraded with LED lighting which runs cooler, draws less power and will last forever compared to the original incandescent bulbs which ran hot and required frequent replacement. The new LED bulbs are of the "warm white" variety so as to maintain the original vintage aesthetic. Freshly applied walnut woodgrain vinyl veneer gives this unit a 'brand new' appearance. Features AM/FM tuner with amazingly clear reception and selectivity. Stepped tone controls disengaged when in middle position. Integrated phono preamp for playing vinyl records. Vertical RCA inputs to make external connections much easier. I spent a couple weeks listening to this unit and enjoyed every minute of it - the sound is warm yet clean and accurate. Can shake the neighbourhood but also sounds great at lower volumes both with and without the loudness switch engaged. In extraordinary cosmetic condition with few signs of use, very clean and well kept. In perfect working order, fully restored, tested and calibrated as per the service manual. A beauty to see and hear, will become a centerpiece of your Hi-Fi set.
